Health & Safety Policy
Have you got health and safety under control?
Have you got health and safety under control?Millards Cleaning Services is totally committed to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and client staff/members of the public, who may interface with our operations.
All operatives are trained in basic Health and Safety before starting any job.
Method Statements and Risk Assessments are provided before the start of the contract.
All electrical equipment is portable appliance tested on a regular basis.
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Assessments are carried out to all applicable products/materials that are used.
Controlling dangers at work is no different from tackling any other task – recognising the problem, knowing enough about it, deciding what to do, putting the solution into practice. If you have five or more employees you will need to have a written health and safety policy statement. This sets out how you manage health and safety in your organisation. You must do risk assessments – careful examinations of what could cause harm to people in your work.
Does this concern me?
Did you know employers with five or more employees should have a written health and safety policy?
Did you know all employers and self-employed people have to assess the risks from their work activities?
Did you know employers with five or more employees have to record the significant findings of their risk assessment?
Did you know employers have to consult their employees or their employees’ safety representatives on health and safety matters?
Did you know employers have to provide health and safety training for employees?
What law applies?
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (risk assessment)
Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996
Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977
Millards are fully compliant with Health and Safety regulations. Management regularly attend training on current developments and some are NEBOSH Certified Management
Millards fully-covered window cleaning in central London
It’s a common misconception that for the cleaning of windows, the cleaning company is always responsible if there is an accident or something goes wrong. True, if the cleaning company has all the right Health and Safety measures in place and is properly insured, you have nothing to worry about… sadly that is not always the case in our sector, which can lead to very expensive pay-outs by customers.
At Millards we NEVER compromise on health and safety and are comprehensively insured with £10m cover for Employer’s Liability and £10m for Public and Products Liability.
In some cases our insistence to do the job properly may be reflected in our prices, for example, it is more expensive to use a ‘cherry-picker’ than a ladder but if Health and Safety requires a ‘cherry-picker’ that’s what we use.
Before we begin a job, Method Statements and Risk Assessments are provided to ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are correctly addressed. COSHH Assessments are done to all products and materials that are used and all our operatives are fully trained in any specialist skills that are required, such as abseiling, cradle and platform work
